Well now that the San Francisco 49ers have finished their 2016 preseason I thought I would go over some of my thoughts and feelings about the last 4 weeks. It is always nice to finish up the preseason with a win which they did in convincing fashion this past Thursday but lets be honest it was a game filled with backups and players trying to make the final 53 man roster before Saturdays deadline. By now you all heard of our QB Colin and his refusal to stand during the national anthem which is his way of bringing attention to police brutality in America or the oppression of black people in today’s society. I’m not going to say much on this subject because it has nothing to do with football but it is his right to not stand up during the national anthem. So many people died for this great country in order to protect his right to do that and I like to see people stand up for what they believe in.
Now back to football the preseason gave many fans a chance, who are not familiar with chip kelly’s system, to witness it for the first time. I was really excited about what I saw with the no huddle offense it is going to give us a chance to put a lot of points on the board which was severely missing last year due to a whole laundry list of reasons but for the sake of augment lets just say Jim Tomsula, the last head coach of the 49ers, was way to conservative when it came to play calling. I noticed the formation of a good offensive line which played solid and was starting to gel. We were able to run the ball very well and I liked watching the rookie running back Taylor gash the chargers defense for big yards last Thursday. I think there is a great chance for him to make the team. It also speaks volumes to the offensive line and how well they played those last 4 games. An outside linebacker named Marcus Rush played well enough for a roster spot after recording 6 sacks over those last 4 preseason games. He may be able to help us out a lot while Lynch is serving a suspension for the first 4 games of the regular season.
The one person we didn’t get see much of was Will Redmond our 3rd round pick this year and may have to go on IR because they say he has not fully recovered from the ACL injury which he suffered last year. (shaking my head) gotta give credit to Trent for his love of drafting injured players that being said I really hope he works out and makes a difference next year. The 49ers were hit with an injury bug this year that seen two of their starting caliber wide receivers put on IR before the season even started. Even with all the injuries I’m still very excited about the 2016 season because we have a young team thats only going to get better as the season goes on we also have the swat brothers, which I wrote about in my last article, who I am most excited about seeing this year. We have the toughest schedule this year so we are not expected to win many games but I do expect us to beat the L.A. Rams who we play in week 1 and it should be a fun game. I have been a 49ers fan my whole life and all we can do is keep the faith. I wish you all good luck this season which starts September 12thand I hope all your teams make it to the super bowl this year except the cowboys, I’m sorry if your a cowboy’s fan but we cant all be perfect.
Running back Taylor and Marcus Rush cleared waivers and were placed on the practice squad I’m very excited about the future of these players and hopefully next season they will earn a spot on the 53 man roster. Will Redmond was put on IR, injured reserve, which is very disappointing I was hoping our GM would draft people who could contribute right away but we will have to wait and see if he can contribute next year. Many say this will be a lost season for the 49ers anyway so lets hope next year we can see more of these players.
